Update: Missing College Senior, Shane Montgomery Found In Schuylkill River

West Chester University student, Shane Montgomery, has finally been found and brought home as dive crews pulled his body out of the Schuylkill River on Saturday. His body was found at the bottom of the river and was tragically only 10 feet from the river’s bank.

This was not at all the way the Montgomery family wanted this story to end, but they do take some solace in the fact that Shane has been found after over a month of tireless searching.

Shane’s mother, Karen Montgomery said upon the discovery of her 21 year old son’s body, “Today we have done what we promised. We found and brought Shane home.”

Just hours before Shane’s body was pulled from the frigid river waters, his uncle sent him a text that simply read “come home”. His uncle, Kevin Verbrugghe, told local news crews “There was that moment that you kind of hoped it wasn’t Shane. But at the same time he’s in God’s hands.”

Funeral services for Shane will be held this week and the results of his autopsy are expected to be released as well.

Karen Montgomery made a statement on the Help Find Shane Montgomery Facebook page saying “We want to thank everyone for their support, prayers and love and ask that you please respect our privacy. We need time to mourn together as a family”
