Notre Dame Offers Up The Goods With Upcoming Free Online Courses The University of Notre Dame is jumping on the MOOC bandwagon with a series of non-credit free online courses that will be available very soon. The first free course heading to a computer near you has been dubbed “I ‘Heart’ Stats” and will provide anyone, anywhere with an introduction to statistics beginning in mid-April. Next up on Notre Dame’s MOOC list are the early summer courses, “Understanding Wireless” (May 18th), “Jesus in Scripture and Tradition” (June 1st) and “Math in Sports” (June 15th). The University’s chief academic digital officer, Elliott Visconsi said in the press release, “Notre Dame’s courses on the edX platform deliver on the promise we make as a university – to advance learning in the service of human flourishing both here on campus and in the wider world. Our initial courses feature Notre Dame’s world-class faculty on topics of broad interest from a variety of disciplines; the courses have been designed for everyone. We also look forward to enhancing communities in schools, colleges and universities. We also look forward to enhancing the connection with our alumni, parents and friends through these engaging offerings.” If you’d like to join the ranks of the Fighting Irish from the comfort of your own home, head on over to the NoteDameX course page to learn more!
