Microsoft Office Mix and edX Team Up to Change Online Learning

A new partnership between edX and Microsoft’s Office Mix is showing early signs of being a very powerful tool for educators and may change the face of online learning as we know it.

Annop Gupta was directly involved in the new relationship between edX and Office Mix. Gupta, a Microsoft Distinguished Scientist, he says “Our belief is that democratization of online and blended learning is a really important goal that will enhance learning and the technology of online courses. We want to empower educators across the world to create excellent courses.”

With the melding of these two technology centered companies, teachers will now have the ability to offer their students a more engaging virtual learning experience. Instructors will now be able to move beyond the standard PowerPoint presentations and will be able to create videos, new forms of online lectures that incorporate audio, video, screenshots, hyperlinks, digital links and much more.

This new platform gives instructors hands on access to the tools needed to bring the course materials presented to their students to life without having to pay a fortune to do it. Gone are the days of dull slides that hardly hold the educator’s attention, let alone the students viewing them and in march the days of a uniquely melded online learning experience that pull students in and lets their teachers interact with them in new, exciting ways.

As eCampus News reports, Gupta says, “The motivation and action for the Office Mix project was that we believe online and blended learning will be big, and we want to create tools that will be used to enable new scenarios for students.”
